In 2014, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service suspended the importation of safari-hunted African elephant ivory from Tanzania and Zimbabwe without prior consultation. The Service underlying reasons were questionable management practices, a lack of effective law enforcement and weak governance. But the hidden force behind this decision may be a sort of eco-imperialism. This video examines the question whether such decisions disenfranchise Africans and offers practical solutions.
